5 Ways to Host a Supper with a Personal Touch

Oh come on, let’s face it: the days of dinner parties with a big bowl of crisps as bites and “the chiquest” wine from the rack albeit from the supermarket are behind us (thank our good Lord!!). If you’re going to gather friends around your table, why not make it unforgettable and most of all: unmistakenly you?

At Club Carlotta, we believe the devil’s in the details. Here are five ways to turn any dinner or cocktailparty into a love letter to your own marvellous taste:

1. Personalised place cards (no, really!)

Whether it’s a scribble from your 3-year old on a torn-off wine label or a hand-stitched linen napkin, there’s something utterly charming about a guest seeing their name waiting for them!

2. Signature cocktails (preferably with a scandalous name)

Anyone can pour a cava. But a drink named after your cheeky Dachshund, your #%*$ of a boss, or your steamy last holiday romance (‘Sex with Stavros on a pebble beach’ to name something)? Afin, you get the point. Just don’t forget the garnish.

3. The DIY matchbox moment

Design your own matchbox label (or for heaven’s sake, nick one; who’s got extra time anyway). Ask your local printer to run off a sheet of sticker paper sized for your standard supermarket matchboxes. Cut, stick, and pop them in a pretty dish for guests to admire, and use to light their ‘only-when-I’m-drinking’ cigarettes.

Feeling extra? Print the same design on A4 and swap out that tragic Van Gogh print in a thrifted frame. Place it by the cocktail station for maximum ‘oooohh, did you make that?’ effect.

4. Plates with a past

Mismatched vintage china, borrowed from your eccentric aunt or snapped up at a flea market in Lyon, each plate becomes part of the narrative. Uniformity = boring.

5. Table linens that tell a story

Forget bland and go bold. Please. Whether it’s your lovely grandmothers damast tablecloth or a Club Carlotta Gingham design, your choice of textile sets the whole scene. If it sparks conversation (or covers the red wine stains), you’re always doing it right!

Because a personalised dinner isn’t about perfection, you know. It’s about personality. Yours. In all its chaotic, candlelit, champagne-splashed glory🥂🌙🍝🎀
